Xander's Pie Hole
________________________________________________________________
I have to write this down before I forget!
During dinner tonight we were all feeling pretty silly. Xander is over-tired so that's just a comedy sketch waiting to happen anyway. One moment Michael gently requests that he take a bite of lasagna (I still need to send you that recipe Blue Sleepy! I haven't forgotten you!) and Xander bursts into tears. "I hate dinner. I'm full." More tears. Michael shoves in a tiny bite and suddenly life is all good and he says, "delicious!". I can't keep up with the moods of a tired toddler.
We were all getting a little rowdy, so Michael used his favorite phrase (not mine!), "Everyone, shut your pie holes and eat your dinner". We were quiet for about thirty seconds. Just long enough for it to be completely silent. Xander says, "pie hole!" The kids lost it. Michael and I, after years of parenting know that if we react, he'll keep doing it. The other kids couldn't control themselves. Xander kept saying "pie hole" and Michael and I were laughing until tears were streaming down our faces with our hands covering our mouths, but we weren't fooling anyone. All the kids were laughing until their sides hurt! Getting such a big reaction guaranteed Xander will be saying "pie hole" for a long, long time.
As is inevitable in my house, there was another hysterical outburst of some kind so Michael pantomimed "pie hole" by mouthing the word "pie" and making a hole with his fingers. Xander saw him, and copied him whispering "pie hole". Michael lost it then and it was all over. Utter chaos took over. Dinner will never be the same again.
