Ride the Insomnia Train ________________________________________________________________
You guys have been riding this insomnia train with me for a while now, haven't you?

I think I will keep reading in bed, dangit. It does relax me. There's just something about snuggling up with my honey warming my feet and the nice down comforter and a good book.

Yesterday was my day with Riley. I was awake all night and finally decided I should at least take a nap so I would be safe to drive. So after a little nap I dragged myself up and out. I actually felt pretty good.

We saw Sweeney Todd. Oh. My. Sakes! Yes, I took my 15 year old to an "R" rated movie. But I did a lot of research on it before hand and I felt she was mature enough to handle it. It was incredible! Amazing! And let me make this clear. I do not love The Depp. I appreciate him as an actor, but if he offered to nibble my earlobe, I'd send him packing. I think I'm the only woman in the US of A to say that, but there you are. I can't gush enough about Sweeney, though. I'm dragging Michael to it. He enjoys musicals, he just didn't work up much enthusiasm. I have enough for both of us. The story! The visuals! The music! Holy moly. Yes, there was blood. But it looked like tempura paint that Xander fingerpaints with. It was very theatrical looking, not realistic. Not what I think of as gory. So we sang The Worst Pies in London all the way home.

Then we spent a few hours at Barnes and Noble doing some sale shopping. FYI, they are having a buy 2 get 1 free DVD sale right now. And I got a couple of newer release hardcovers for 50% off! Heartsick by Chelsea Cain! Yessiree! Poor Riley's enormous gift card from her Grammy went quickly, but she got enough to keep her reading for a while.

I can't tell you how awesome it is to have a teenager who wants to hang out with me. How cool it is that we can talk about books for hours and enjoy each others company. Michael said she was pacing the living room waiting for me to wake up from my nap, the poor thing. I'm so glad I sacrificed some sleep because it was a special day with my girl.

So you'd think I'd be nodding off last night, wouldn't you? Uh, no. We stayed up late watching Jekyll. FAB-ulous! I partook of some wonderful entertainment yesterday! 2AM and my eyes were wide open. I listened to my audio book for a while. Still awake. I think I got about 4 hours last night. It was SO hard going to church this morning. Timmy had a "stomach ache" which was code for "I want to stay home just me and Mom". I don't want to start giving into that game, so off we went.

And you know what? I feel pretty good. I look like hell (dark circles, patchy complexion) but I'm in good spirits and I'm not drooping. Weird. I really hope I can sleep tonight though. This suck it up thing can only go so far. I'm not good at sucking it up.

I think My 5 Cents is right. Maybe it is peri-menopause. I still get the occasional hot flash. I guess that's what it is. I suddenly feel like I have a flu-like fever out of no where and it goes away after a while. It doesn't happen at night though. Nothing happens at night. Including R.E.M.! I didn't go for my hormone test. Bad girl, no cookie. Our insurance was kaput for the year. My OB didn't sound all that convinced that the test would tell us much anyway. I have to wait for the right time in my cycle before I try again.

My Ambien is gone but I still have Amitriptyline. Amitriptyline makes me stooopid. I'm in a fabulous mood once I actually get my groove on. But it takes me hours to fully wake up and be functional. I wonder if I kept taking it, if I would get used to it? Anyone? Bueller? Gee. I suppose I should do something radical and call my doctor.
