Thanksgiving is Coming... ________________________________________________________________
The school district is leasing us a laptop. I'm addicted. If there was a 12 Step Program for lap top addiction, I wouldn't care. Me likee! Poor Michael thought he'd get a chance to use it for work occasionally. HAH! How did I manage life without it? He did say the other day that he loves to sit next to me and hear me tippy typing away while I write my book reviews. I might have to let him use it one of these days... Maybe.

So my in-laws are coming over for Thanksgiving. They seem to be excited about it, and I'm taking advantage of their uncharacteristic enthusiasm. Although I talked to my MIL this morning and she seemed cranky, but kept on me about needing to bring a vegetable besides the pie she offered. Steamed carrots. Michael isn't a fan. Squash. Michael hates. I suggested Green Bean Casserole, and that seemed to make her happy. I have my traditional dishes that I must make. Steamed carrots aren't it. Oddly enough, the brussel sprouts I hated as a child have become a Thanksgiving staple. I cook them in chicken stock with some crumbled bacon and that seems to make all the difference. Thank you Rachael Ray!

Unfortunately, 3 of my 5 little darlings are sickos. Yesterday I felt awful. Sore throat, the whole deal. But I drank a ton of water, took a lot of Airborne and I'm all good today. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Emily. She's much worse then she was yesterday and so is Xander. Tim seems better and so does Riley. Eeek! It would be so sad for them to be sick on Thanksgiving! Not to mention all the chores they are supposed to be doing to prepare for the in-laws!

The last time the in-laws came over, it was Riley's birthday. I was in an "I don't give a crap" mood and things went really well. My kitchen floor had needed to be mopped and there was clutter around. I made some joke about it to my MIL and she said...are you ready for this? "Oh, you don't have time to clean so much! Besides, it's good for kids to be exposed to a few germs now and then. You're kids are happy and you're having fun with them. That's what counts."

I don't think my jaw dropped, but it could have. Apparently a pod person has taken over my MIL's body, but I'm not complaining because I like this pod person a lot more. She didn't tisk that my cabinets have spots or clean in my couch cushions or make comments about my never ending pile of laundry. What the heck?! I hope it lasts through Thursday!

The one car thing is quite the challenge lately. Especially when it comes to grocery shopping. Michael has been working long hours and having to attend city counsel meetings and whatnot and hasn't had time for it or to come out . I have nothing more to cook. We've done pasta with butter and Parmesan one night. Scrambled eggs another. If he can't make it to the store tonight, it looks like instant oatmeal or Cheerios because they are about to turn into a take out pizza! Wish us luck that Michael can make it to the store for me before they run out of turkeys! He wanted to come out and pick me up this afternoon so I could do the shopping, but I would have been gone all afternoon, and I didn't want to when the kids are so sick.

Uh oh. Maggie just sneezed.

Thanksgiving could be called on a account of mucous!
