I Wanna Be a Librarian!
________________________________________________________________
I've added another future career choice to my list of things to keep me busy when my children grow up and leave me.
1. Criminologist
2. Caterer
3. Audio book actor? Reader? What's the terminology there?
4. Book editor. But my grammar sucks. I just want to read books for a living.
And today I decided I want to be a librarian!
This morning I told the kids if they went to play outside, I'd come and read them the last chapter of the *Harry Potter book we were reading. They gathered up and headed out right quick. So I wrangled myself up a cup of coffee and out I went. Tim even brushed off my chair for me. I felt like a little Queen. Okay (turning to look at my behind) a big Queen. Whatever. Anyway! I started reading without everyone fighting over who gets to sit by me for a change and then the neighbor kids started to show up. Pretty soon, they were all pulling up a chair and I realized I had a little circle of children around me. It was kind of a magical moment. I just might have to try to do this every day.
So I wonder how I go about getting hired as a librarian? Do I need to get a degree in library sciences? Do I need to get up close and personal with Dewey and that crazy decimal system of his?
Really, I just want to sit in a poofy chair with little children sitting on carpet remnants all around me. A Story Lady, you know? But that's a rather elderly thing to want to do isn't it? And hardly a career. But as a librarian I could check out all the good books first AND read little darling cherubic children stories! Maybe I'd even wear funny hats or something. Yes, a funny hat is definitely in order...
